No NEET for Coming Year, AIPMT is Scheduled on May 4

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to follow the previous medical entrance pattern. For the coming year, AIPMT is scheduled to be held on 04 May 2014.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was included in this year as the substitute of AIPMT. Due to occurrence of various issues in the admissions, the supreme court struck it down and also added that the admissions according to the NEET 2013 will remain unaffected due to this declaration.

However, students must not puzzle it with the earlier version of AIPMT. Actually, AIPMT-2014 is basically a duplicate of the NEET and will not create any issues for the students who are undertaking tuitions for the medical common entrance tests (CET). The syllabus is similar to the NEET that students can download from website of MCI (www.mciindia.org).

Another similarity is that students have to appear in the single examination which will contain 180 objective type questions from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology (45 questions from each subject).

The only dissimilarity between NEET and AIPMT-2014 is that it will be held only for the 15% national quota in government medical/dental colleges all over India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. NEET was planned as the sole gateway to all seats in medical colleges.

AIPMT-2014 will also be the source of admission to medical or dental colleges willingly participating in the test in chosen cities across the country and abroad.
